Chair of Local Buying Foundation QLD, NSW & WA
Local Buying Foundation is launching in Western Australia!

As the chair of the Queensland and New South Wales Local Buying Foundation, I am proud to be involved in establishing the Local Buying Foundation where BHP Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) operates.

The Local Buying Foundation in Western Australia will open opportunities for communities where BHP WAIO operates to build on local capabilities and opportunities for growth in current and emerging industries. The Local Buying Foundation will support projects and programs which facilitate workforce development, innovation and the productive capacity of business and industry to grow the potential of their regional economies.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for a diverse range of business and industry group leaders who are representatives on local economic development incorporations/groups, business chambers or industry associations to form the Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committee (LBFAC) for Western Australia.

Membership on the LBFAC will consist of cross-industry representatives which may include agriculture, tourism, retail, hospitality, education, health or community.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a range of industry stakeholders and apply your local knowledge and industry expertise to support projects that aim to build sustainable business communities for the future.

Melissa Westcott
Chairman of Local Buying Foundation, QLD, NSW & WA.

What is the Local Buying Foundation and what does it mean to be a part of the Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committee?
The primary objective of the Local Buying Foundation (LBF) is to support and deliver economic and local/regional business programs which build capacity across our locations of interest.  To ensure LBF funding opportunities target genuine local business and community needs, a Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committee (LBFAC) is being established in Western Australia.

The Local Buying Foundation aims to enhance the economic stability in the Local Government areas of the Town of Port Hedland and the Shire of East Pilbara.

The LBFAC is a representative body of key stakeholder organisations from across the Shire of East Pilbara and the Town of Port Hedland that have a direct or indirect interest in regional economic development and collectively brings a diversity of skills, expertise and experience.

To submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to be a member of the LBFAC for Western Australia, nominations must be recieved prior to Friday, 10 July 2020.

Prior to completing the EOI, please review the Local Buying Foundation Charter.
The first LBFAC meeting is Friday, 31 July 2020 via WebEx online with the LBFAC members required to attend.

Keep up to date on the Local Buying Foundation
