2018 - A Year of Milestones and Achievements

In many aspects, the Local Buying Program (LBP) has achieved some amazing accomplishments in 2018, beyond exceeding forecasted KPI’s and financial milestones.

2018 has been a monumental year for the LBP, with the joint efforts of C-Res and BHP culminating in some resounding successes and significant contributions to small businesses and local communities.

Statistical milestones reached during the year include $250 Million approved spend, over 22,500 work opportunities created, 13 day average payment terms from receipt of invoice and over 1,200 approved suppliers.

LBP Website Upgrade Launching February
 
Since the inception of the Local Buying Program in 2012, C-Res and BHP have worked to ensure that the end to end platform that both BHP buyers and local suppliers use daily is best practice.

During 2018, a major upgrade was completed by our amazing team to ensure that the LBP website continued to evolve and focus on best practice in digital technology while increasing efficiencies for both suppliers and buyers.

To make the transition to your new and improved LBP Workspace seamless, our entire C-Res team is working hard to guarantee you have all the information you need prior to, and following, the release.
What changes should you expect in the upgraded Website?
Enhanced customer support
  • Live Chat
  • C-Res live view of all buyer/supplier dashboards

Improved engagement
  • Daily Summary Emails - streamlined, summarised communication which will reduce the number of emails being received

Efficiency enhancement / Simplified process

  • Automated Work Instruction (WI) variation process
  • Automated claims for goods
  • Linking Purchase Orders (PO’s) to WI line numbers

Enhanced functionality

  • Multiple WI Owners - nominating two BHP WI owners allows for easier management of workflows across job shares/rosters/leave

Quicker turnaround of request
  • Requests for further information go directly to the buyer

BHP Supply Information Event
On Tuesday 11 December more than 120 people attended the BHP Supply Information Event held at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre (MECC).

Celebrating Christmas Whilst Supporting Locals
The end of 2018 saw many sites participating and planning site celebrations and using the Local Buying Program to do this.

Capture Your Capabilities
This December, our two newest Queensland staff members attended a Business Capability Statement Workshop hosted by the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning.
 
Local Business Engagement Advisors
Available for Support
C-Res has dedicated Business Engagement Advisors (BEA) available to support buyers and suppliers with all aspects of the Local Buying Program. 

Our BEA's live locally in the regions where BHP/BMA/BMC sites operate, which facilitates arranging meetings for BEA's to visit business premises to offer support using the Local Buying Program, as well as helping to create Business Capability Statements, choosing supply categories and discussing all questions relating to the Program and its processes.

BEA's are also available to assist buyers with the supplier directory and onboarding eligible suppliers.
 
 
Local Buying Foundation
Queensland Highlights
The Local Buying Foundation (LBF) is a critical element of the Local Buying Program. BHP make a financial contribution to the LBF for every approved LBP transaction.

Exciting News
CHDC and GW3 welcomed Prue Lonergan and Vicki Leeson as part of the LBF Initiative, Bridging the Boundaries: Business Facilitator Program.

96 Projects have been approved by the Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committee since inception, amounting to $2,198,239 which supports activities building the capability and capacity in the Central Highlands, Isaac and Mackay local government areas.
